Heather Honey

Natural honey whose main composition comes from the nectar of the heather flower. This honey is harvested in the surroundings of the Natural Park of Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña and Ibias, in the southwestern mountains of Asturias. Harvesting period: late summer.

With the arrival of summer, the Heather (Erica cinerea) carpets the ground of the Natural Park of Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña, and Ibias in Asturias — a paradise where our bees harvest their heather honey.

Heather Honey

Natural honey whose majority composition comes from the néctar of HEATHER, specifically of Erica cinerea. It is produced in the southwestern mountains of Asturias, in the natural park of the “Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña e Ibias”.

This honey is collected at the end of summer.

Heather honey has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibiotic and antirheumatic propierties.

COLOR
Amber with reddish tones.

SCENT
Intense and very persistent.

TASTE
Sweet with salty notes and a clear bitter component.

FEEL
Variable crystallization* tendency

The crystallization of honey is a sign of its quality.
To decrystallize it without altering its properties, heat it to below 45 °C.
The best way to store honey is at room temperature in a cool, dry place.

GASTRONOMIC USES:
This honey pairs perfectly with sausages, bread with oil and pork.
